What inspires an artist to create?  Perhaps it is a memory, a belief or a dream.  Whatever the impulse the result is the fruition of a process, usually grounded in personal discipline that may be spontaneous and rapid or labored and introspective. What transpires ideally captures the inspiration and transforms it into an exuberant explosion or a contemplative and solemn stillness.

Joyous movement and rhythm, captured with line, form and color sums up the visual voice of my paintings.  My work sometimes poses more questions than answers but it offers room for the viewer to interpret and possibly gain new perspective.

I am unafraid to express myself and this clearly emerges in my artwork. I have more than one visual voice and some find it hard to define or categorize my style which I accept.

"There are those in the art world who believe that an artist should devote themselves to developing a single voice in their work.  But to me, in this bigger, broader and more complicated world, I'd rather experience it as a multi-linguist."
Jerry De La Cruz

I have been influenced by The Fauves use of color, David Hockney's time and space concepts, Gerhard-Richter & Degas for their avoidance of one style, Maya Lin's writing and understanding of the creative process, Ida Kohlmeyer's use of symbols, Picasso's fractal views, Matisse's use of color and pattern, lastly that dear Andy Warhol for his exploration of  color ways.
